Barclay James Harvest - Suicide?

(From Octoberon, 1976)

I woke [E]up to a [A]feeling, it was [E]cold by my [A]side
You had [C#m]gone with the [A]sunrise, [E] leaving [F#m]tears in my [B]eyes
I got [E]up with a [A]feeling of an [E]emptiness in[A]side
To the [C#m]noise of the [A]sidewalk [E] and the [F#m]silence of my [E]mind

Well I [E]walked out this [A]morning, down a [E]street with no [A]name
To a [C#m]club called "The [A]Loser", [E]
like a [F#m]dog that's gone [B]lame
Took the [E]club elev[A]ator to the [E]floor with a [A]view
I took [C#m]out life sub[A]scription [E] -
it's the [F#m]only one they [E]do

I stepped [F#]out on the [B]guard rail, saw the [F#]crowds slowly [B]part
Heard a [D#m]voice shouting [B]"Don't jump, [F#]
please for [G#m]God's sake let me move my [C#]car!"
Felt a [F#]hand on my [B]shoulder, heard a [F#]voice cry "Just in [B]time!"
Felt the [D#m]quick push, felt the [B]air rush [F#]
Felt the [G#m]sidewalk, fell in [F#]line
