Down By The River Chords

(ver. 1)
Faron Young
Down By The River
============================================

C F C
Down by the river there's a tree
                                    G7
Beneath it's branches you promised me
                                 C
Your love forever now that loves gone
                   G7 C
Down by the river I'm all alone

                  F C
Do you remember that big tree
                                   G7
The one we carved on just you and me
                                C
That's only one thing you left behind
                        G7 C
A heart with your name carved next to mine

                    F C
Down by the river there's a tree
                                    G7
Beneath it's branches you promised me
                                 C
Your love forever now that loves gone
                   G7 C
Down by the river I'm all alone

                 F C
In early autumn I have found
                                        G7
The tree gets lonesome it's leaves turn brown
                                           C
And with each leaf that falls a tear falls too
                   G7 C
Down by the river where I miss you

C F C
Down by the river there's a tree
                                    G7
Beneath it's branches you promised me
                                 C
Your love forever now that loves gone
                   G7 C
Down by the river I'm all alone

SONG HISTORY & INFORMATION

None as of yet...

Original country music has its own unique sound
and style. It unfortunately began to drift away
toward a pop or soft rock sound in the mid-Eighties.

While its understandable that recording companies
are in business to make a profit, they chose to
commit all resources to the new trend and bury the past.
What they failed to understand or decided to ignore
is the fact that during that time, there was a
huge demand for the established artists, such as
Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Charley Pride,
George Jones, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton
to name a few.
