WWW.AZCHORDS.COM | Jawbox - Whitney Walks Bass | Ver. 1
Artist - Jawbox
Album - For Your Own Special Sweetheart
Song - Whitney Walks
Year - 1994
Bassist - Kim Coletta
There's a few parts to this. I've tried to indicate the length of notes by leaving
spaces and using ~ to indicate notes which could be held/use slight vibrato.
Intro - The song starts out with ride cymbal and one guitar. The bass comes in with
guitar 2.
G|-------------------------|
D|-------------------------|
A|-1--1--3--3--5--3--------|
E|--------------------6~---|
Let Bb ring.. Play 4 times.
It then changes to this:
G|--------------------|
D|--------------------|
A|-1--1---------------|
E|-------0~---2---3---|
Let E, Gb and G ring. Play 2 times
Return to this:
G|-------------------------|
D|-------------------------|
A|-1--1--3--3--5--3--------|
E|--------------------6~---|
Play 2 times
Then it changes to this. I'm not 100% on this. I think there may be some other notes
thrown in. However, you can definitely hear G. If you let G ring or play a G5 chord then it
sounds perfectly fine.
It sounds something like this:
G|-----------------|
D|--5-----5--------|
A|-----------5-----|
E|-----3--------3--|
Verse - this is just a repeat of the intro parts.
G|-------------------------|
D|-------------------------|
A|-1--1--3--3--5--3--------|
E|--------------------6~---|
Let Bb ring.. Play 4 times.
It then changes to this:
G|--------------------|
D|--------------------|
A|-1--1---------------|
E|-------0~---2---3---|
Let E, Gb and G ring. Play 2 times
Return to this:
G|-------------------------|
D|-------------------------|
A|-1--1--3--3--5--3--------|
E|--------------------6~---|
Play 2 times
G|-----------------|
D|--5-----5--------|
A|-----------5-----|
E|-----3--------3--|
Repeat till Chorus.
Chorus - The bass is totally inaudible in this part. So I am taking that it follows the
chords. I hear nothing else stand out apart from them.
G|-------------------------|
D|-------------------------|
A|----------2--2--------5b-|
E|--1--1--1-------3--3-----|
I've tried to indicate timing. You don't have to bend the D but I prefer to play it that way.

This is just played till the end. The guitar then fades out using feedback.
That's it!
